Why has Tree Mail been added as a service Tree Life provide? |
|||
| Due to the option of having a training centre we are also able to offer a new service called Tree Mail. The idea of this course is to offer a course with an accent on correspondence rather than contact time due to our other courses having an accent on contact time rather than correspondence. We realise due to the time constraints of today's living pattern more people are wanting correspondence courses that can fit in with their lives and can be carried out n their own time, and while our courses try to be as flexible as possible they are not correspondence by any means. At Tree Life we do not envisage ever getting rid of the contact part of our courses as we feel this is so important to learning and is so beneficial to the student. (This is the only reason we hare miles and miles across the country at silly times of the day - the students benefit!) We are however, prepared to bring the contact time down to a minimum and communicate more tasks, worksheets and reading by post if this is what the candidate would prefer.... | ||||

What courses are being offered in this way? We are continuing to offer the two main examinations we prepare candidates for; the Technician's Certificate and the Professional Diploma. Who are the tutors that are setting up the course and running it? Your course tutor will be either Andy Summerley or Dave Dowson, who are fully qualified to teach these courses and currently teach both of the new syllabuses to other day release Tree Life candidates. They are also both consultants in this industry and so are fully up to date and using any information that is passed to you in their own line of work. When does the course of correspondence begin? Anytime - so long as we have enough capacity for you to join we will try and set you up within a month of your enquiry. This means there is no waiting for a start date for our Tree Mail candidates. What is the format of the course? The course is designed to be bought in units at a time and for each unit there will be a set number of lesson packs containing worksheets and a set number of day/s attendance at our training centre. For the Technician's Certificate we already know that there will be 3 lesson packs and 1 day per unit required at our training centre, all of this will be included in the unit price of £450 per unit. there are 6 units to the Technician's Certificate. For the Professional Diploma the course is obviously going to be more intense and have more work that needs to be carried out for each unit, therefore at this time we are unable to give a definite number of lesson packs needed for each unit and are unsure of the amount of contact days that will be required. We do however hope to have the answers soon. work will be provided in the form of the lesson packs which will contain worksheets from which to work through. It would then be for the candidate to go and find the necessary materials (hints and tips would be given on finding the right information) to complete the worksheet, having completed the work you would then send it to your tutor (my post or e-mail) and they will respond by posting your marked work back to you with comments to help with your learning process. Who is this course designed for? This course is designed for people that can not get to one of our day release classes that happen across the country and cannot fit in to a group of three or more people to receive training from us. It is also for the candidate that prefers to work on their own or prefers to complete the lesson packs in their own time (possibly taking more time to complete the training than other candidates of ours). Candidates should only attempt this course if they feel motivated to get the work completed. The amount of reading and time needed to complete the course should not be underestimated. When would the Contact days occur? These would occur throughout the year on set dates, and hopefully experience and knowledge can be shared. Notice of the days would be given on our website and by letter or email. The classes would last for 6 hours. Do I need to have a computer and the internet? This is not vital, these days there is a lot of information available on the web that could be useful but most of the reading that needs to be carried out will be from suggested books. All of the information can be sent via the post and therefore no email address is needed for either side of the correspondence. due to the level of marking it is likely that the post will be the favoured method of your tutor anyway.
